While Microsoft shows off its next operating system, Google has unveiled a fresh Contacts design. This Circles-style added information, according to the business, is “a new experience for Google Contacts that will help Google Workspace users discover more about their coworkers.”
In practice, it shows your organizational chart as part of the Contacts UI, as well as your email and meeting history with a specific person. It sounds nice to keep things tidy and ordered in order to “quickly learn more about your coworkers and stakeholders.”

The only issue is that it reminds me of the early 2010s when Google foisted Google Plus sorting and feeds on everyone. Some of the lowlights included event spam and “Email from Google Plus.”
This concept appears to be coming to Workspace users and G Suite accounts of various levels over the next few weeks, but not too personal accounts.

In terms of Google Plus itself, it was a disaster that resulted in data breaches and congressional probes before being renamed as Currents, a program that some people still find useful.
