Design
One of the most important features of a decent foldable smartphone is its usability. As an enthusiast, you don’t want a foldable gadget that doesn’t blend with your everyday routine or that makes service sound like a hassle.
Many people did not think Huawei’s previous deployment was a success. To consider a smartphone with its monitor wrapped around its chassis sounds like preparing for a chore. Holding it when folded will seem strange because you’ll have to go the extra mile for safety, which means you won’t be at ease.

The release of the Huawei Mate X2 demonstrates that Huawei listened to enthusiasts and created a more practical interface inspired by the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G.
The Mate X2 abandons the out-folding mechanism seen on its predecessors in favour of an in-folding style, which results in a conventional smartphone look when the foldable smartphone is folded.
Display
The outer panel is a 6.45-inch OLED with a resolution of 1160 x 2700 pixels, a density of 456 PPI, and a refresh rate of 90Hz.
A square camera module with four cameras and an LED flash is located on the back of the outer cover. You will also see the Huawei logo, indicating that it is a Huawei smartphone.
The rear lining of the Mate X2 is constructed entirely of glass, while the chassis has aluminium. There isn’t some news on IP ranking, so users can prevent their computer from being immersed in water. Enthusiasts who wish to buy this device can have four colour choices and are Black, White, Light Blue, Rose Gold.
Moving to unfold the Huawei Mate X2, we find a panel that is reminiscent of the Mate Xs’s. This monitor is 8.0 inches in height. It has a resolution of 2200 x 2480 pixels, a density of 413 PPI, and a refresh rate of 90Hz, which is lower than the 120Hz refresh rate on the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
The Cameras
When it comes to mobile cameras, Huawei isn’t a slouch. They have long been regarded as one of the pioneers in the development of mobile camera technology. This is particularly noticeable on its flagship smartphones.
The trait is carried on to the Huawei Mate X2. It is armed with a flagship series of monitors, with the rear department becoming the boss.
On the back, we have a single 50MP camera with an f/1.9 aperture and a 12MP telephoto camera with an f2/.4 aperture. The optical zoom on this standard telephoto camera is 3x. An 8MP periscope telephoto camera with an aperture of f/4.4 and 10x optical zoom is also available.
The final component of the rear camera lineup is a 16MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture. The rear camera department will record videos in 4k resolution at 60 frames per second. For further information on the other video recording types, please see the spec sheet.
Since there is no camera on the unfolded monitor, users must focus on the 16MP camera on the cover display. This camera has an aperture of f/2.2 and can record videos at 1080p @ 30fps.
Hardware and software
Foldable phones have often been combined with high-end smartphone since their inception, which kind of completes the sophistication foldable phones represent. Huawei hasn’t been a slouch over the years, and they’re not about to sit down now.
The Huawei Mate X2 is powered by an octa-core Hi-Silicon Kirin 9000 5G processor, which was also used in the Huawei Mate 40 Pro launched last year.
Other efficiency enhancers include a Mali-G78 MP24 GPU, 8GB RAM, 256GB or 512GB of internal storage, and a non-removable 4500mAh battery with a maximum power of 4400 mAh.
Enthusiasts can also benefit from a 55W quick charging mechanism via USB cable. Huawei made no mention of wireless charging, implying that it might not be accessible.
The EMU 11 user interface is running on top of the Android 10 operating system. The Mate X2, like the other Huawei devices, does not have Google Services. This means the fans would be unable to use utilities such as the Playstore, the Gmail program, among several others.
connectivity
The Huawei Mate X2 comes equipped with a USB-C slot, Bluetooth 5.2, an IR Blaster, and NFC. Please keep in mind that the unit lacks a headphone port, so private audio listening would include the use of either a wireless headphone or a USB-C headphone.
Since internet access is limited to 5G, enthusiasts would be allowed to use 5G connectivity for internet operations such as downloading, updates, and uploads.
Price and Availability of the Huawei Mate X2
The Huawei Mate X2 begins at about $2,785 for the basic 8GB / 256GB version, which converts to approximately 1,061,308 Naira in Nigeria, 305,682 KSH in Kenya, and 16,023 GHC in Ghana.
Enthusiasts who choose the maximum 8GB / 512GB version would have to spend about $2,940.
