CYBERATTACK: According to the FBI, the recent attack on meat supplier JBS was carried out by the cybercriminal group REvil (also known as Sodinokibi) (via The Record).

This comes after White House deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that a Russian-based organization most likely carried out the attack.

The JBS intrusion, on the other hand, could have far-reaching consequences: the company is the world’s largest meat processor, and the incident forced the closure of some of the country’s largest slaughterhouses.

This is the second major attack on US infrastructure by suspected Russian cybercriminals in many months; the group responsible for the Colonial pipeline attack last month was also thought to be based in the country.

ACCORDING TO THE COMPANY, while JBS is headquartered in Brazil, the affected plants are located in the United States, Canada, and Australia.
